Marrakech….still…so much to say about it. I’m sorry I don’t exactly know how to arrange and present all what happen there. And I only talk about the Art, but would love to show you pictures of the Life, the Neighborhood…the people.

We keep it just about the Art for now.

QUINTESSENCIEL TRANSPARENT

Beyond all the canvas, ceramic, lightbox and drawings I did a sculpture originaly inspired from the metal drawings that you can find on the doors of my neighborhood there in the Medina.

I first created a version of a canvas I already did, inspired by the hand of fatima I mentionned in an earlier post. It’s size was 90cm high.

I then had the oportunity to work again with my friends in order to create  a massive sculpture of 3,60m high, in metal, bending it, welding it, painting and then varnishing it….for a beautiful garden in the Palmeraie of Marrakech.

Here are some picture of what influenced me. Great kraftwork on metal doors.

I first wanted to make a door such as these ones. But then, I’ve been to the village and  seen my visual without the background metal door, and decided to leave it like it is, breathing, able to catch light in a better way. Indeed I liked the idea of something in heavy metal becoming almost invisible.

Also I’ve been amazed by the reflects on it. How a simple grey volume can take all of the nuances of its environment, through the light of sky or the saturated color of the grass. Here is one picture of the big sculpture that shows a great range of colors caught by the volume.

Also, I was really happy to see how this massive object of almost 4m high, build in metal…could seem so light, and almost invisible from a certain point of view.

Indeed, you only discover the globality of something by increasing the numbers of point of view you have on it…

May “the Strength and wisdom of Hamsa” be with you ! May you be as transparent as you can.
